Trekking in Morocco

Posté le 14.11.2007 par trekkinghighatlas
Trekking is one of the very best things Morocco has to offer. All of our tours travel to remote, off the beaten track areas, and to traditional Berber villages populated by friendly local people living a life that’s changed little over hundreds of years. If you want to trek in Morocco during the summer, head for the High Atlas to climb either Toubkal (4167m) North Africa’s highest peak, or Jebel Mgoun (4071m) North Africa’s second, or both. In the winter we head further south to walk in the Anti-Atlas or Jebel Saghro ranges. This is a popular option for those new to trekking or looking for a gentle one week holiday which combines the best of rural Morocco and the vibrant city of Marrakech.

The high Atlas - The highest mountains in north Africa
Walk through valleys full of fruits trees, cross streams, picnic by waterfalls or visit Berber villages and join them to drink mint tea, a wonderful hospitable tradition. The walks are graded according to difficulty, from easy to hard (one day treks).

If you are not afraid to leave your usual comfort, wish to fill your eyes with the most beautiful images and share good moments together, Jamal awaits you, while hoping to remain worthy of your confidence.

Exploring the Moroccan desert

Posté le 14.11.2007 par trekkinghighatlas
After the High Atlas Mountain range lays a mysterious, surreal and stunning landscape. This is the heart of old Morocco - the pre Sahara desert. It's like stepping back in time into an all forgotten world; a world of fortified villages, Berber castles (Kasbahs) and abandoned Foreign Legion outposts. These were all once major stop off points on the camel routes between Marrakech and the great trading capitals of the Sahara. The Sahara region is where you'll find one of the most diverse and dramatic landscapes in Morocco.

The Sahara can be an inspirational experience at night, with the air being crisp, clean and clear, the stars being so close you can almost touch them and a silence that is deafening.

On the road, towards douar Aït Souka, an ochre colored house appears in the distance. Situated in good in harmony with the local colours of the mountains and the nuances of green of the flora and the fruit trees around it. It´s what my lodging is all about!

The guest house has double rooms, rooms with multiple beds, showers and medical facilities. The house was built in a tradional way by using local materials like stones, wood and rose trees. There will be a warm welcome.

The traditional architecture of the house will nourish your spirit and will let you dream of another adventure in the mountains of the High Atlas. A calm, quiet and inviting space, my guest house is the place to stay for an authentic High Atlas experience.
